| Colin Farrell’s ‘Fright Night’ – Trailer Debuts (Video) Posted: 13 May 2011 01:35 PM PDT Fright Night is a reboot from the 1980′s classic B horror movie of the same name. The screenplay was written by Buffy the Vampire Slayer writer Marti Noxon. I have a LOT of faith in the writing capabilities of Noxon, so I am eager to see what she did with this re-vamped version.
The film stars Colin Farrell, Anton Yelchin, David Tennant, and Toni Collette. Teenager Charley Brewster (Yelchin) guesses that his new neighbor Jerry Dandrige (Farrell) is a vampire responsible for a string of recent deaths. When no one he knows believes him, he enlists Peter Vincent (Tennant), the opportunistic host of his favorite TV show, to help him take down Jerry and his guardian. Check out the trailer: I think it looks freakin’ AWESOME! While I loved the original starring Roddy McDowell and Chris Sarandon, it’s nice that they’ve taken SOME of the campy-ness out of this version. What do you guys think? | Mariah Carey’s Hospital Visit By Social Worker (Video) Posted: 13 May 2011 12:51 PM PDT Like with most new mothers, nurses and hospital staff try their best to help women with things like; how to improve the production of breast milk or how to properly feed your newborn child. So it would seem that Mariah Carey also received this kind of advice while she remains in hospital following the c-section birth of her twins.
A nurse had apparently told the singer that a small amount of dark beer such as Guiness would improve the production of breast milk, because of the yeast content. According to husband Nick Cannon, someone overheard that conversation and called child protective services with a sensationalized version claiming that Carey was drinking and doing drugs whilst in hospital and breastfeeding her twins. Cannon spoke with Piers Morgan about the incident. Obviously, some people will do anything to create trouble. The new father also said that he and wife Carey were planing to release photos of their kids to alleviate the frenzy of photographers trying to make a few bucks. I think given the circumstances, that that is a good call. |
| Justin Bieber Helps Out President Obama Posted: 13 May 2011 10:26 AM PDT President Barack Obama met a young girl last week, whose father was killed in the 9/11 attacks. The young girl confessed that she was a huge Justin Bieber fan to the President, who told the girl he knew the pop singer and could arrange a meeting for her.
And as it turns out, he actually DID get in contact with Justin to get this meeting set up! The singer is currently on tour in Asia, and won’t be returning to the States for some time, but plans will be made once the tour is over and he can get himself back to the east coast. How absolutely sweet of the President to do something like that for this girl who lost a beloved parent in such a brutal way. A truly great role-model. GO PREZ OBAMA, GO! |
| Lady Gaga Breaks Up With Luc Carl (Photos) Posted: 13 May 2011 08:47 AM PDT Lady Gaga has broken up with her 30-year-old boyfriend Luc Carl. In an interview that airs today, Gaga told Britain’s the ‘Graham Norton Show,’ “No, I don’t have a boyfriend and haven’t been on any dates recently.” Just like he was yesterdays pair of dirty drawers.  The couple started dating in 2005 and later split once Gaga had reached the pinnacle of fame. By 2010 the pair had renewed their love for each other, with Gaga telling Grazia magazine they were in a “proper monogamous relationship.” The ‘Born This Way’ singer also added that she “never actually enjoyed sex” until her love with Carl. Yesterday her ex seemed to confirm the demise of the relationship by tweeting the Bob Seger song ‘Still the Same’ along with the words “I miss you.” On May 9th Gaga tweeted, “I need a man who thinks it right when it’s so wrong, right on the limits where we know we both belong.” Poor guy. The handsome heartthrob was born on May 13, 1986, in London, England, and got his big break as Cedric Diggory in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire."  Robert soon exploded into superstardom playing Hollywood's hottest vampire, Edward Cullen, in Stephenie Meyer's "The Twilight Saga" films. He’s rapidly become one of the most sought after leading men, most recently starring alongside Reese Witherspoon in "Water for Elephants," and Uma Thurman in the upcoming "Bel Ami." The 2011 MTV Movie Awards are less than a month away (Sunday, June 5th) and “Twilight” hunk Robert Pattinson is hoping he and Kristen Stewart can once again take home the prize for Best Kiss. “It’s kind of terrifying if you suddenly stop winning it. | Shania Twain May Never Sing Again Posted: 13 May 2011 07:14 AM PDT Shania Twain has revealed that she is losing her voice and is currently undergoing therapy to restore her speech. Twain claims that years of suppressing her voice and her emotions have damaged her vocal cords.  The condition is called Dysphonia, which causes an impairment in the ability to produce voice sounds. The condition manifested itself when she found out that her ex-husband, Robert “Mutt” Lange, was having an affair with one of her BFF’s, Marie-Anne Thiébaud. “During the course of my divorce, I dug a big hole and stopped growing and searching and had given up. I realized I had to climb back out…You can only help yourself. Others can support you. Just asking myself what I was going to do helped make a place for optimism. You start to isolate yourself in your own misery.” Twain continues, “I had reached a point in my life where there was a bottleneck, physically, in my throat. Something had to give.” She said that since her discovery, she is now on the road to recover her lost voice. “I’ve only just discovered what’s wrong. Next comes rehabilitation, which will take a long time. Physical rehabilitation, voice therapy, learning how to breath again…and the singing will come.” This saddens me, I was hoping for a new album. I love her. Shania is currently promoting her new book and was spotted at The Grove yesterday for a signing. |
| ‘American Idol’ Shocking Elimination (Video) Posted: 13 May 2011 04:32 AM PDT The crowd wept along with James Durbin last night when it was announced by Ryan Seacrest that he was leaving American Idol. The elimination came as a shock to many, including the judges, who believed that James was to be the next Idol winner.
Durbin has had a lot to overcome in his 22 years of life, having been diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome as well as High Functioning Autism (Aspergers) when he was a child. Shortly before his diagnosis’, his father died of a drug overdose when James was just 9 years old. Maybe it was his personal struggles and triumphs that endeared him to the viewing public each week, but one this is for sure, that kid has a set of lungs. Unfortunately, Durbin did not make it all the way in the American Idol competition this year. But he should be proud of himself for having made it into the top four. That is quite the accomplishment. For me, watching this season’s Idol has been excruciating. I felt that with a couple of exceptions (Jacob and Stefano) that the top ten singers were amazing, and I had to sit idly by and watch my faves get voted off one by one… I totally thought James had this one in the bag… Oh well. COME ON LAUREN AND SCOTTY! (In case you want to know my picks for final 2) Who do you think will win this season? |
