Heidi Montag, Danielle Staub Team Up In ‘Famous Food’

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 07:06 PM PDT

If "Hells Kitchen" and "The Surreal Life" had a bastard love child, it would be VH1's new reality series "Famous Food."

Due to premier this fall, the pseudo-celeb fest will feature former "Hills" star Heidi Montag, "Real Housewives of New Jersey" diva Danielle Staub, "Bachelor" Jake Pavelka,  "Sopranos" star Vincent Pastore, call-girl-turned-singer Ashley Dupre and Three 6 Mafia members "DJ Paul" Beauregard and "Juicy J" Jordan Houston.

This motley cast will collaborate with LA restaurateurs Mike Malin and Lonnie Moore to open a new restaurant called – you guessed it – Famous Food.

And did I mention it's a competition? At the end of the show, Malin and Moore will make the cast member who screwed up the least a partner in the venture.

Sounds like a train wreck. Which is, of course, the key to the success of any reality series.

But at least now we know what Montag, Staub and Pavelka were filming earlier this month, when they were spotted at Café Med.

Police Investigate Death Threats Against Rebecca Black

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 06:49 PM PDT

Police are investigating two death threats against Rebecca Black, the California teen whose annoying YouTube music video "Friday" went viral in March.

Reuters reports that the Anaheim Police Department is investigating two threats against the 13-year-old, which were made in March after "Friday" became an internet sensation.

“In essence the threats were related to getting the music off the Internet or they were going to kill her,” said Anaheim Police spokesman Rick Martinez said.

“We can’t validate how serious they are, but we do take it seriously."

According to Martinez, one of the threats was made by phone, the other by email. Both were made through Black's production and management companies.

“We’re going to investigate and determine, number one, the source of the comments and then based on the investigation determine what intent was and where we go from here,” he said. “If we believe they were actually intended as threats we will work toward prosecution”

While the investigation takes place, he promised officers would be "keeping an extra eye out" for the middle schooler. Once the perpetrators are identified, they could face criminal charges, he added.

Now, I know "Friday" grates on the nerves, but death threats? Come on, people. She's 13 for cripes sake!

And you have to give her credit – that insidious video has generated more than 200 million views, according to Visible Measures.

Incidentally, that's more than her idol Justin Bieber's "Pray" video AND Lady Gaga's "Born This Way."

Which you have to admit is impressive. Deeply, deeply disturbing…but impressive.

Lady Gaga VS Weird Al Yankovic – Did She Say No To Parody?

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 03:22 PM PDT

Earlier this afternoon, Weird Al Yankovic posted a link to his blog website. More specifically to a piece he titled ‘The Gaga Saga‘.

Upon reading it I discovered Al had recorded a parody of Lady Gaga‘s hit song Born this Way, which he is calling ‘Perform this Way‘.

Weird Al has integrity, only releasing his parodies commercially after gaining approval from the original artist. So of course, when the concept for Perform this Way hit him, he asked Gaga if he could do the song. (His intentions were for the song to be the flag-song for his new album)

According to Yankovic, he got the run around from Gaga’s manager. First saying that the full lyrics to the song were needed to make a decision based on, then asking for the song to be recorded.

So Al obliged and recorded the song, at the expense of his long overdue family vacation.

Here’s an excerpt from Yankovic’s blog entry;

We send the lyrics to Lady Gaga and wait on figurative pins and needles for her to give us the go-ahead. After a few days, we get our answer: "She actually needs to hear it. Otherwise the answer is no."

Hmm. Well, this was mystifying to me. At this point she has the lyrics… and hopefully she is familiar with her own song… and the parody is basically her music… with my lyrics. It really shouldn't be that hard to decide – based on having the lyrics right in front of you – whether or not you'd be "okay" with a parody. But, alas, we'd been given an ultimatum. If she didn't hear it, she wouldn't approve it.

Okay then. I decided – based on my belief that people are basically good – to go through the trouble and considerable expense of actually recording the song. Now, I never do that – never. But because I was really excited about this parody, I decided I would faithfully jump through as many hoops as Gaga deemed necessary.

After the Australian tour, I was supposed to go on a long-awaited family vacation over my daughter's spring break – but because I now had to record what ostensibly was going to be my "hit single" as quickly as humanly possible, I cut our vacation short and came back to L.A. to spend long days and nights in the studio. The band and I worked around the clock. On April 11, I put the finishing touches on the mix and mastered the track. Done.

Or so I thought.

A couple days later we got the final word: Lady Gaga says "no."

It struck me as completely bizarre that Gaga would just say no like that. After all, she usually encourages such things. And besides, there is nothing in the Weird Al version that would be taken offensively. He only ever parody’s artists he admires.

So what happened exactly?

Well, the folks over at TMZ managed to get a hold of Gaga on this matter.

According to TMZ, Gaga did NOT reject Al’s parody proposal. In fact, sources close to Mother Monster say that she has been away on tour and hasn’t even heard the song yet.

The source says “There must have been a misunderstanding because [Gaga] is in no way trying to block the release of the parody. She’s busy touring and hasn’t heard the song yet. Her manager hasn’t had a chance to play it for her yet. She’s a huge Weird Al fan.”

So what the hell happened? Who knows, but it didn’t sit right with me that Gaga would just flat out say no to Al.

UPDATE: Gaga’s manager admits to being the one that said no to Yankovic. The manager had NOT passed the parody on to Gaga, she had not heard it. BUT has approved it for release! Can’t wait for the video!

Justin Bieber Thinks Charlie Sheen’s Still Winning

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 02:11 PM PDT

Justin Bieber thinks Charlie Sheen is still winning.

When asked by Time magazine who he thinks is the most influential person in the world right now, Bieber said:

“[It] has got to be Charlie Sheen. He’s got a million followers in one day on Twitter. And . . . I’ve never seen that happen before. Plus, he’s got tiger blood, and he’s always winning.”

Despite Bieber’s vote, Sheen didn’t make the final cut for the Time 100 list of the “100 Most Influential People in the World.”

Who do you think made the list?

Catherine Zeta-Jones Opens Up About Bipolar Disorder

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 01:30 PM PDT

Catherine Zeta-Jones opens up about her battle with depression in this week's issue of PEOPLE, saying that no one should be ashamed to seek help.

The 41-year-old actress was recently diagnosed with bipolar II disorder.

“This is a disorder that affects millions of people and I am one of them,” she told the magazine. “If my revelation of having bipolar II has encouraged one person to seek help, then it is worth it. There is no need to suffer silently and there is no shame in seeking help.”

Earlier this month, the Oscar winner made headlines when she sought treatment for her illness. She checked herself into Silver Hill Hospital, a mental health facility in New Canaan, Connecticut on April 6 and stayed a total of 5 days.

Friends of the actress told PEOPLE that Zeta-Jones had struggled privately while her husband, actor Michael Douglas, battled throat cancer. After Douglas, 66, was declared cancer-free in January, she came to the realization that she couldn't deal with her depression on her own.

“The simple things would just seem overwhelming, like going out to dinner,” the friend explained. “There was just a little piece of her chipped away. It was hard to watch because I knew how hard she was trying.”

Emma Roberts, Chord Overstreet Caught ‘Making Out’

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 11:30 AM PDT

Looks like Rihanna and Usher weren't the only celebs spotted together at the A|X Armani Exchange and 944 Magazine Neon carnival at Coachella.

Scream 4 star Emma Roberts and Glee's Chord Overstreet were also spied in close proximity at the Indio, California festival this weekend. Very close proximity.

“They were making out,” a witness told Us Weekly. “They couldn’t keep their hands off each other!”

As the night wound down, Roberts, 20, and Overstreet, 22, were overheard making plans for a little after party.

"They were talking about heading to a hotel pool," the source reported.

The fleeting romance seemed to have run its course by the next day, though. They were spotted again at Coachella, but this time, they weren't quite as cozy.

“She was leaning into him but he seemed way more interested in his food,” a witness claimed.

Roberts has previously been linked to "I am Number Four" star Alex Pettyfer. (He may have a bad boy reputation, but you have to admit he's hot!)

Overstreet's dating history includes songstress Taylor Swift and Glee co-star Naya Rivera.

Lindsay Lohan Says Ciao To Gotti Role!

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 11:12 AM PDT

I can’t believe how stupid Lindsay Lohan‘s “team” are. Lilo was practically a shoe-in for the part of Victoria Gotti, in “Gotti: Three Generations“, having gotten Victoria’s stamp of approval and everything!

So what happened? Well…

Producer Marc Fiore spoke with TMZ and said that he has ended negotiations with the starlet because “It just didn’t work for me.”

Fiore really wanted Lindsay in the film which will star John Travolta as famed mobster John Gotti. “I will only ride a merry-go-round with my kids” the producer said, implying that Lohan’s team was playing games with him.

It’s too bad too. This film would have been the first on Lindsay’s rise since her numerous recent troubles. It might have actually helped get her career back.

Apparently, the negotiations fell out over a matter of money. IF Lindsay were an A-Lister, then MAYBE that tactic would have worked…but seeing as she’s not had a job in so long, it’s my believe that she should just shut her trap and take whatever people are willing to pay her. At least until (or IF) her career takes off again…

Fiore did say that “maybe if Lindsay calls me up, we can talk about it.” But for now, Linds will just have to say ‘ciao’ to the film!

Helen Mirren Says ‘Sh#t’ On British TV (Video)

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 09:57 AM PDT

Dame Helen Mirren dropped the s-bomb on BBC Breakfast News, while speaking on the subject of John Gielgud.

Mirren used the expletive while describing her admiration, as she paid tribute to the late actor by praising his clipped accent and his penchant for curse words.

“He was always my inspiration for the choices he made, he was this great knight of the British theatre. He always took such edgy choices, and he would always say in that wonderful voice he had,” said Mirren prior to cussing on air.

This is not the first time the actress has been caught swearing live on air.

In 2007, she swore on camera during a red carpet interview at the Baftas.

Lady Gaga Addresses ‘Judas’ Leak (Video)

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 08:55 AM PDT

Lady Gaga posted another installment of “Gagavision,” where she let’s everyone know, just what it’s like for an artist when their song leaks.

As you might have guessed, it makes for a pretty crappy night.

“Sonja, do you remember last night? What last night was like? Sonja was about to get some sleep, and then … I got an email,” Gaga reveals.

“‘Eek! ‘Judas’ is leaking a slow death.’ It was a slow … just put me out of my f**king misery. Just put that s**t out. There’s no need. They were like tearing limb from limb. First it was like the arm of the song, and then the liver.”

The singer reacted to the ‘Judas‘ leak right away, by rushing the release of the song on iTunes, four days ahead of its scheduled April 19th release date.

Furthermore, Gaga has heard the accusations that her new singles sound like old Madonna songs, and she’s not taking kindly to them.

In a new interview with NME, the popstar has hit out against those saying her smash hit “Born This Way” is a ripoff of Madonna‘s “Express Yourself.”

“That’s retarded,” she said about the accusations. “If you put the songs next to each other, side by side, the only similarities are the chord progression. It’s the same one that’s been in disco music for the last 50 years. Just because I’m the first f**king artist in 25 years to think of putting it on Top 40 radio, it doesn’t mean I’m a plagiarist, it means I’m f**king smart. Sorry.”

About criticism, this time from religious groups, over her new song, “Judas,” told from the point of view from Mary Magdelene, “I feel like honestly that God sent me those lyrics and that melody,” Gaga shot back, getting emotional. “When you feel a message to give to the world and people are shooting arrows through it … there’s no way for something that pure to be wrong.”

Scream 4 Review (Photos & Video)

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 07:31 AM PDT

For those of you not familiar with the preceding installments of the Kevin Williamson/Wes Craven franchise, believe you me, you’re missing out.

The original Scream redefined horror movies. It made them more modern, and assumed that the viewer was savvy to the rules. It was pure brilliance.

Everyone in the theaters for the first film found themselves utterly shocked when the biggest celebrity name in the movie (Drew Barrymore) found herself gutted and hanging from a tree, all in the first 15 minutes of the film.

What the hell? It was pure cinematic perfection!

Scream 2 followed the film’s heroine Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) to Windsor College, after the events of the first film. Sid thought she had escaped her past, but boy, was she ever mistaken.

The “Ghostfaced Killer” had plotted their revenge on her, and soon more gruesome murders happened on campus.

It became obvious that someone was trying to make a ‘sequel’.

Fans and critics panned the second installment claiming that it was sub-par to the first film. But I don’t think those people were paying close enough attention to the film’s point.

There is a scene in Randy‘s film class where the students discuss sequels. Randy flat out says about sequels “by definition alone, they’re inferior films”. So obviously, the writers planned to have the second movie NOT out do the first.

And with Scream 3 critics et al were even more brutal in their analysis. One critic claimed; “The new movie strays pretty far from the original idea — that the Scream characters are horror-movie savvy.”

But did they miss the part where the rules for a horror trilogy are explained to the cast? Dewey, Gale, and Sidney obviously had no idea what was happening around them. They were treating the events as though it were just another sequel.

That is, until a postmortem Randy via video tape explains that it’s possible that the killer(s) might be making the final installment of a trilogy.

The exposition of the 3rd film, might have been campy.. but wasn’t it intended to be by the filmmakers? That was the whole point of the series, was it not?

Anyways, now that we’ve got the past films covered, let’s focus on Scream 4.

It’s been 10 years since the events of the third film, and no ghostface killings have occurred in the interim.

Sidney Prescott writes a book, and on the final stop of her book tour, she returns to her home town of Woodsboro. Soon after her arrival, the murders start up again.

This time, everything seems centered around Sidney’s cousin Jill Roberts. It’s her friends that are being knocked off one by one…

Is history repeating itself? Sid seems to think so.

It’s rather difficult for me to say too much about this film without killing it with spoilers. I will however, let you in on the fact that this film is NOT ‘just another sequel’, but rather it’s fashioned after Hollywood’s recent obsession with REMAKES, and REBOOTS.

That being said, Sid starts to see many similarities between her experiences from the first film, and what cousin Jill is experiencing with this film.

Scream 4 puts itself right back on top of it’s game, where it can proudly stand side by side with it’s original. It was absolutely fantastic. A new Scream film, for a new generation.

Who done it? Well, you’ll be guessing all the way through the movie. And unless you’ve read spoilers, you will NOT guess correctly.

Charice Performs On Glee, Releases ‘One Day’ Produced By Nick Jonas (Video)

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 06:52 AM PDT

After weeks of being absent, both “Glee” and Charice were back at McKinley High on Tuesday.

Last seen in the season-two opener “Audition,” the 18-year-old guest star revived her role as the talented rival glee club member, Sunshine Corazon.

Wanting to prove that she wasn’t a spy for Vocal Adrenaline, that she was only there to contribute to New Directions’ upcoming benefit show, Sunshine took to the stage to sing the classic ballad about loneliness, “All By Myself.”

GMA News spoke with Charice about being back on Glee:

How many episodes of "Glee” are you doing? “I don't know how many. But I am really excited to be back.”

How much has "Glee” really helped you in your career? “"Glee” is the best thing that has happened to me. It is the best reason why I am being recognized right now. People come up to me and say, "Oh, I saw you in 'Glee.'” It has really helped me in my career and my life. I would like to thank them for having me on the show.”

Not only did Charice make her return to "Glee" last night, but you can now pick up her new song "One Day" on iTunes.

And did you know that Nick Jonas wrote and produced the song?

Charice has also teamed up with ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses to offer some lucky fans the chance to be in the video for "One Day."

Now through May 23, 2011, fans can enter the "ACUVUE® 1•DAY Contest" at www.facebook.com/ACUVUE for their chance to win one of the grand prizes, have their photos featured in Charice's video, or one of the prize packages (see rules)

Dancing With The Stars – Week 5 Elimination (Video)

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 06:20 AM PDT

Despite getting low scores nearly every week, former Playboy Playmate Kendra Wilkinson managed to scrape by and not get herself voted out.

This week saw a three way tie for lowest scores – Ralph Macchio, Petra Nemcova, and Kendra Wilkinson. So who went home?

The lovely Petra Nemcova of course. Although WHY she went home I don’t quite understand…

But heck, blame the popular vote since this seems to be nothing more than a popularity contest and not a talent contest as I once thought.

I think they should bring Kim Kardashian back, so SHE can get sent home. Don’t think I’d ever get tired of seeing THAT. hehee.

Do you think the right person went home? Tell me in the comments section!
