Michael Jackson Does Not Approve

Posted: 12 May 2010 11:12 PM PDT

Remember when Michael Jackson would walk around with his kids in tow? How he would put masks and blankets over their faces? Well, he would not approve of this mess if he were around today. Am I wrong?

Michael Jackson Does Not Approve

The King of Pop wanted his children shielded from the paparazzi so that he could give them as normal of a life as possible. Now that he has passed away, some nefarious hacker has gotten into their Facebook and Photobucket accounts and have posted the following two videos.

One features Paris Jackson saying, “Monkey please help”:

Another shows Blanket acting out scenes from “Star Wars”:

Pop Eater reports:

According to the owner of the Youtube channel that these videos were posted on, “Some ‘fans’ got into one family member account (Facebook and Photobucket) and posted them on the Web. I have been told the account was public and then made private.”

They are cute kids, but I don’t think Michael would have wanted this. Whoever got into their accounts has violated their privacy. But, on the other hand, it’s good to know from a fan’s point of view, that the children are doing well and acting like any other normal kids their ages.

63rd Annual Cannes Film Festival Opening Gala

Posted: 12 May 2010 10:57 PM PDT

Not even rain could dampen the mood as the 63rd Annual Cannes Film Festival kicked off tonight — but that didn’t keep the stars away!

Kate Beckinsale, Cate Blanchett, Russell Crowe, Salma Hayek, Eva Longoria, and others set the tone for plenty of glamour over the next 12 days of the festival.

63rd Annual Cannes Film Festival Opening Gala

Kicking off opening night was the world premiere of Robin Hood, Ridley Scott’s take on the classic British folk hero starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett as the titular outlaw and Maid Marian respectively.

Russell Crowe in Robin Hood

Among the highly anticipated films this year are Fair Game, which stars Penn and Watts and tells the story of CIA agent Valerie Plame; You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, directed by Woody Allen and starring Watts and Josh Brolin; Inside Job, a documentary about the global financial crisis narrated by Matt Damon; and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, starring Douglas and LaBeouf.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, mainstays at the festival in recent years, won’t be attending. Pitt’s upcoming movie, Tree of Life, directed by Terence Malick, was eyeing Cannes for a premiere but was not completed in time.

With some 3,000 journalists from about 80 countries jamming into the French Riviera for Wednesday’s start of the 63rd annual film festival, Allie is Wired is very proud to have been invited to attend. Be sure and watch for our coverage!

Jessica Simpson To Bobblehead Her Way Into ‘Entourage’

Posted: 12 May 2010 12:07 PM PDT

Jessica Simpson has landed herself a bit part on “Entourage”, playing herself, of course. And instead of Vinny and Eric fighting over here, Ari and another agency will be doing the sparring.

Jessica Simpson To Bobblehead Her Way Into 'Entourage'

She plays a client of Ari’s in the episode, which is perfect for her, because it’s not like really acting. Except for the part where she dresses up like the above photo. We all know she hangs out in frumpy looking sweats and tennis shoes. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

What’s even more amusing is that she hasn’t gotten any special treatment on the set of the show. As you can see in the above photo, she had to share a trailer with porn star Sasha Grey.

This post needs more Vinny and the boys:

And, of course, my favorite character, Ari Gold, who does not approve:

They should’ve at least had her hook up with Turtle, that would make her appearance palatable. What do you think?

Newsweek Feels Celebrity Wrath After ‘Bigot’ Article

Posted: 12 May 2010 10:59 AM PDT

If you aren’t familiar with the latest uproar which involves Kristin Chenoweth, Sean Hayes, Jonathan Groff, and “Newsweek” writer Ramin Setoodeh, I’d like you to take a moment to catch yourself up since you’ve obviously been in a martini-induced coma the past week. Setoodeh wrote an article titled “Straight Jacket.” The subtitle of the article is “Heterosexual actors play gay all the time. Why doesn’t it ever work in reverse?” The article kicks off by discussing the Broadway revival of “Promises, Promises” which stars Hayes and Chenoweth. Now, the backlash ensues.

Glee” creator Ryan Murphy has urged fans of the hit TV show not to buy the until editors apologizes for an article that took aim at and singled out the show’s Groff. Setoodeh called Groff a “theater queen” and hammered Hayes’ performance in the Broadway show, stating “It’s weird seeing Hayes play straight.” Chenoweth responded in an open letter posted on various social networking sites, calling the article “horrendously homophobic.” (You can read her entire letter below. It’s long so pack some Lunchables.) In an open letter sent to select news agencies and magazines, Murphy is speaking out, calling Setoodeh’s article, “damaging, needlessly cruel and mind-blowingly bigoted.”

Per PopWatch:

"I would like to join my good friend Kristin Chenoweth on her condemnation of a recent Newsweek article written by Mr. Ramin Setoodeh, in which Setoodeh basically says that out gay actors should go back into the closet and never attempt to play straight characters. This article is as misguided as it is shocking and hurtful. It shocks me because Mr. Setoodeh is himself gay. But what is the most shocking of all is that Newsweek went ahead and published such a blatantly homophobic article in the first place…and has remained silent in the face of ongoing (and justified) criticism. Would the magazine have published an article where the author makes a thesis statement that minority actors should only be allowed and encouraged to play domestics? I think not.

Today, I have asked GLAAD president Jarrett Barrios to stand with me and others and ask for an immediate boycott of Newsweek magazine until an apology is issued to Sean Hayes and other brave out actors who were cruelly singled out in this damaging, needlessly cruel, and mind-blowingly bigoted piece. An apology should also be issued to all gay readers of the magazine…steelworkers, parents, accountants, doctors, etc…proud hardworking Americans who, if this article is to be believed, should only identify themselves as "queeny" people (a word used by Setoodeh in the article) who stand at the back of the bus and embrace an outdated decades old stereotype.

Mr. Setoodeh has recently Twittered that he is a fan of Glee, the show I co-created with Ian Brennan and Brad Falchuk…the show on which Mr. Groff plays the straight love interest to Lea Michele, a casting choice embraced by fans and critics alike which Mr. Setoodeh has taken issue with.

I extend an open invitation to Mr. Setoodeh to come to the writers room of our show, and perhaps pay a set visit. Hopefully then he can see how we take care to do a show about inclusiveness…a show that encourages all viewers no matter what their sexual orientation to go after their hopes and dreams and not be pigeonholed by dated and harmful rhetoric…rhetoric he sadly spews and believes in. Hopefully, some of the love we attempt to spread will rub off on Mr. Setoodeh — a gay man deeply in need of some education — and he not only apologizes to those he has deeply offended but pauses before he picks up his poison pen again to work through the issues of his own self loathing. Give me a call, Ramin…I'd love to hear from you. I'll even give you a free copy of our Madonna CD, on which we cover "Open Your Heart," a song you should play in your house and car on repeat.”

Setoodeh has since responded to the criticism leveled at him and claims he has been personally attacked online, by phone and through the post. He says that he believed the true thesis of his piece, questioning how much progress has really been made by gays in Hollywood, was misinterpreted.

Per Newsweek:

“The point of my essay was not to disparage my own community, but to examine an issue that is being swept under the rug. Immediately, a number of gay blogs picked up my essay and ran excerpts from it out of context, under the headline that I was antigay. It went viral. Chenoweth wrote a letter to NEWSWEEK calling the article "horrendously homophobic,”, even though she went on to acknowledge that I am openly gay. It went even more viral. In the meantime, commenters on the Internet piled on the attacks. Many of them said they hadn’t even read the original article (some of them did) but they all seemed to agree on the same point: that I was an idiot.

My article became a straw man for homophobia and hurt in the world… I was hoping to start a dialogue that would be thoughtful, not to become a target for people who twisted my words.”

Isn’t everyone pretty much boycotting the sinking ship known as Newsweek anyway?

As a longtime fan of Newsweek and as the actress currently starring opposite the incredibly talented (and sexy!) Sean Hayes in the Broadway revival of Promises, Promises, I was shocked on many levels to see Newsweek publishing Ramin Setoodeh's horrendously homophobic "Straight Jacket," which argues that gay actors are simply unfit to play straight. From where I stand, on stage, with Hayes, every night — I've observed nothing "wooden" or "weird" in his performance, nor have I noticed the seemingly unwieldy presence of a "pink elephant" in the Broadway Theater. (The Drama League, Outer Critics Circle and Tony members must have also missed that large animal when nominating Hayes' performance for its highest honors this year.)

I'd normally keep silent on such matters and write such small-minded viewpoints off as perhaps a blip in common sense. But the offense I take to this article, and your decision to publish it, is not really even related to my profession or my work with Hayes or Jonathan Groff (also singled out in the article as too "queeny" to play "straight.")

This article offends me because I am a human being, a woman and a Christian. For example, there was a time when Jewish actors had to change their names because anti-Semites thought no Jew could convincingly play Gentile. Setoodeh even goes so far as to justify his knee-jerk homophobic reaction to gay actors by accepting and endorsing that "as viewers, we are molded by a society obsessed with dissecting sexuality, starting with the locker room torture in junior high school." Really? We want to maintain and proliferate the same kind of bullying that makes children cry and in some recent cases have even taken their own lives? That's so sad, Newsweek! The examples he provides (what scientists call "selection bias") to prove his "gays can't play straight" hypothesis are sloppy in my opinion. Come on now!

Openly gay Groff is too "queeny" to play Lea Michele's boyfriend in Glee, but is a "heartthrob" when he does it in Spring Awakening? Cynthia Nixon only "got away with it" 'cause she peaked before coming out? I don't know if you've missed the giant Sex and the City movie posters, but it seems most of America is "buying it." I could go on, but I assume these will be taken care of in your "Corrections" this week.

Similarly, thousands of people have traveled from all over the world to enjoy Hayes' performance and don't seem to have one single issue with his sexuality! They have no problem buying him as a love-torn heterosexual man. Audiences aren't giving a darn about who a person is sleeping with or his personal life. Give me a break! We're actors first, whether we're playing prostitutes, baseball players, or the Lion King. Audiences come to theater to go on a journey. It's a character and it's called acting, and I'd put Hayes and his brilliance up there with some of the greatest actors period.

Lastly, as someone who's been proudly advocating for equal rights and supporting GLBT causes for as long as I can remember, I know how much it means to young people struggling with their sexuality to see out & proud actors like Sean Hayes, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris and Cynthia Nixon succeeding in their work without having to keep their sexuality a secret. No one needs to see a bigoted, factually inaccurate article that tells people who deviate from heterosexual norms that they can't be open about who they are and still achieve their dreams. I am told on good authority that Mr. Setoodeh is a gay man himself and I would hope, as the author of this article, he would at least understand that. I encourage Newsweek to embrace stories which promote acceptance, love, unity and singing and dancing for all! –Kristin Chenoweth

Miley Cyrus’ Dirty Dancing Video

Posted: 12 May 2010 10:58 AM PDT

Miley Cyrus’ dirty dancing video has been leaked and we’ve got it here for your viewing disgust.

Miley Cyrus' Dirty Dancing Video

Miley was seen grinding on “The Last Song” producer Adam Shankman, who is an openly gay 45-year-old man. But that doesn’t make it right, does it?

I didn’t think so either.

Check out the video for some jaw-dropping inappropriateness:

Being that she was only 16 when this tape was made, I would have to ask (again), where are her parents?!??

It’s a shame that no one has really set any boundaries for this teenager and she pretty much has full run of the show. The video is gross and makes you feel icky.

American Idol: Love is in the Air

Posted: 12 May 2010 07:07 AM PDT

lee-dewyze-and-siobhan-mangnus

Ah yes, sweet young love. When the performances are over and mentors wave good bye there is some free time for the American Idol hopefuls. What else can you do but spend that time falling in love. Lee Dewyze and Siobhan Magnus have reportedly fallen hard for each other.

They have been trying to keep it a secret, but the couple wasn't very stealth when it came to Magnus' elimination…

"When host Ryan Seacrest declared Casey, 27, safe, Lee put his head in his hands while earth mother 'Mama' Crystal Bowersox rubbed his back to console him.

But wait…it gets better! While Siobhan, 20, watched her American Idol journey unfold on film, Lee kept on trying to get to his girl, but was repeatedly stopped by stagehands. When he was finally allowed to console Siobhan, the moment was priceless! She wrapped her arms around him and didn't let go for two minutes. (Big Mike tried to get in there, too, but she paid no attention to him). She briefly hugged the other contestants, but was right back in Lee's arms."

On to the show recap. It was movie night and Jamie Foxx was once again tapped to take the hopefuls under his wing and show them the ropes. I am not a Foxx fan so I will try and keep it friendly. Each contestant sang one song and then did a duet with another remaining finalist. Crystal Bowersox and Lee Dewyze sang "Falling Slowly" and it is now a bit awkward after learning of the Lee/Siobhan romance.

It was awkward because I am 99% sure these two will be the last standing and fighting for the title. It was an amazing performance nevertheless. It was simply great despite the underlining factors. In some parts Crystal clearly out sang Lee…hmmm.

The second duet came from Casey James and Big Mike. Bother duets were leaps and bounds above the solo performances. I wasn't sure Casey and Mike could topple or even come close to Crystal and Lee's, but the proved to be a force to be reckoned with.

The solos…Jamie Foxx was his usual try-too hard self. While Lee was practicing he got into his face and tried to be all Sean Maguire circa "Good Will Hunting." It didn't work as it probably burned memories of Foxx taking nude photos of himself with his cell into his mind and his version of "Kiss form a Rose" was karaoke-esque.

Big Mike followed and we had another disappointment. He took on "Will You Be There" which is from "Free Willy." Mike was having a really hard time loosening up with Foxx. So Jamie had the bright idea of having him punch his hands. Oy. Unfortunately the performance went about as well as the practice. I blame the song choice being out of the line of his personality.

Casey James also found himself struggling again. Perhaps it was Fox's technique of asking Casey to seduce him and pretend he was a woman. Immediately I thought of Wanda from "In Living Color." Loved that show. Anyway, Casey is my pick for going home.

Crystal followed with "I'm Alright" and of course she was the best of the night. Not hard being that the men struggled with their solos. Yes, her boyfriend was wearing American flag pajama pants.

Casey and Mike in the bottom with a threat to Lee's safety is my prediction for tomorrow's elimination.
