‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ Reboot… WTF???!

It was officially announced today that Warner Bros bought the rights to Buffy the Vampire Slayer from Fran and Kaz Kazui, and are moving forward with a re-boot film.

They’ve hired unknown writer Whit Anderson to pen the script, and have completely excluded creator Joss Whedon from the mix.

For ages now, genius Joss has been answering questions with regards to a new film. Most die-hard Buffy fans, myself included are/were hoping for a new movie to erase our memories of the crap pile that the Kazui couple did to the original script.

If you watch the 1992 film that starred Kristy Swanson, Luke Perry, and Donald Sutherland carefully, you can see that it did in fact have a lot of potential… too bad a horrible director and sub-par production team failed miserably in their execution. It was so awful that I wouldn’t be surprised if Joss wanted to be disassociated from it entirely.

Fast forward 5 years to 1997 where a clever and inventive screenwriter decides that his bubble-gum blond heroine deserves a second go… low and behold, the epic greatness that is BtVS the series is born.

This time ’round we have Sarah Michelle Gellar, Anthony Stewart Head, Alyson Hannigan, and Nick Brendan making us fall in love with a character and situation that most people previously found “heinous”.

The TV Buffyverse allowed Whedon to do things the way he had always intended, the right way. The show was smart, funny, quirky, scary, and a million other things all rolled into one.

Never before, or since for that matter has there been a show that I HAD to watch, period. Every Tuesday, at 8pm, I was glued to my set for an hour. Everyone in my life knew that if they disrupted me during this time with a phone call or any other distraction, it would mean the loss of one of their limbs.

Anyways… back to the story…

Today, all over the internet, there have been articles posted hating on the idea of the reboot. Kristin Dos Santos from E!’s Watch With Kristin, emailed Joss Whedon to get his opinion on what’s going on…

Kristin, I’m glad you asked for my thoughts on the announcement of Buffy the cinema film. This is a sad, sad reflection on our times, when people must feed off the carcasses of beloved stories from their youths—just because they can’t think of an original idea of their own, like I did with my Avengers idea that I made up myself.

Obviously I have strong, mixed emotions about something like this. My first reaction upon hearing who was writing it was, “Whit Stillman AND Wes Anderson? This is gonna be the most sardonically adorable movie EVER.” Apparently I was misinformed. Then I thought, “I’ll make a mint! This is worth more than all my Toy Story residuals combined!” Apparently I am seldom informed of anything. And possibly a little slow. But seriously, are vampires even popular any more?

I always hoped that Buffy would live on even after my death. But, you know, AFTER. I don’t love the idea of my creation in other hands, but I’m also well aware that many more hands than mine went into making that show what it was. And there is no legal grounds for doing anything other than sighing audibly. I can’t wish people who are passionate about my little myth ill. I can, however, take this time to announce that I’m making a Batman movie. Because there’s a franchise that truly needs updating. So look for The Dark Knight Rises Way Earlier Than That Other One And Also More Cheaply And In Toronto, rebooting into a theater near you.

In my opinion, if Joss Whedon, and the brilliant writers that made BtVS come to life on television are not involved (which they aren’t), then it is NOT and will NEVER be Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Leave it to those damned Kazui’s to ruin everything once again… numb-nuts.

It’s finals time on “Dancing With The Stars”! The dancers and their pros will be dancing four dances total tonight and tomorrow night.

Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer are doing the Foxtrot for their redemption dance. It was really good! He’s come a long way. Score: 27


Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas are doing the Jive for their redemption dance. It’s still not that great. They ditched the gorilla outfits, but this is just not great. Score: 27

Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough are doing the Paso Doble. They did a fabulous job! What a great dance! The judges loved the dance. Score: 30

Kyle and Lacey are doing their freestyle to the “Tootsie Roll” and it’s a really cute number. So adorable! He’s got a lot of personality and it shows! Score: 29

Bristol and Mark are doing their dance to a Broadway number. Bristol isn’t feeling the character and still dances like a zombie. This dance is complicated and stupid. Those two minutes, you can never get back. Score: 25

Jennifer and Derek are doing their freestyle dance to “Do You Love Me?” by The Contours. She danced a fantastic dance and you can tell that she really deserves to be in the finals. You go girl! Score: 30

Kim Kardashian was recently rumored to be dating ‘One Tree Hill’ star Michael Copon, but now it appears that she has been getting close with Halle Berry‘s model ex, Gabriel Aubry.

Kim Kardashian and Gabriel Aubrey attended the LA Lakers game at Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles, appearing to be definitely flirty.

She did everything short of drooling!

The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors by the final score of 117-89.

Halle and Gabriel announced their split in April. They have a two-year-old daughter, Nahla.

‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ Wrapped, Trailer Date Announced!

The anticipated 4th installment of Disney‘s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has just wrapped according to Jerry Bruckheimer.

The series’ producer made the announcement Friday evening via his twitter account.

The filmmaker also announced the date that we can expect to see the first trailer for the film: December 17th. I can’t wait!

Captain Jack Sparrow (Depp) crosses paths with a woman from his past (Cruz), and he’s not sure if it’s love — or if she’s a ruthless con artist who’s using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past. Written by Walt Disney Pictures

The film stars Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Geoffrey Rush, among many others.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is set to be released on 20 May 2011.

Snooki Celebrates Birthday with Condoms

Snooki certainly brought the fist pumping crowd to her 23rd birthday party, which was sponsored by LifeStyles Condoms on Saturday night at NYC hotspot Pacha.

The "Jersey Shore" star arrived in style, donning a sparkly strapless dress and tiara—no one expected anything less from the show's biggest star.

Who knew that both Snooki and Miley Cyrus shared the same birthday — and they would both celebrate it in such trashy ways?

JWoww and the newest cast member Deena Nicole walked the carpet, along with Kat DeLuna and Sean Kingston, who performed live later that night as a surprise for the birthday girl.

Snooki's parents joined the rest of the gang upstairs in the VIP area, where party goers were passing out LifeStyles Condoms and vibrating rings.

The crowd was going wild, and cornered Snooki near the stripper pole where a shirtless man was dancing to house music. Power publicist Jonathan Cheban was spotted flirting with a blond all night, then pocketing a vibrating ring.

Ludacris, Carmelo Anthony & LaLa Vazquez Surprise Students With Youth Rally

Yesterday, Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony, along with LaLa Vazquez, Ludacris, Senator Mike Johnston and MTV News Correspondent Sway Calloway surprised 1400 high school students at George Washington High School in Denver, Colorado with a youth rally.


From the press release:

The event was the FINAL stop on the Get Schooled National Challenge and Tour – a multi-city tour which engaged students in an effort to help improve high school graduation rates and ultimately raise college completion rates. The Youth Summit engaged students in a conversation about what their biggest challenges are in school. The celebrity education ambassadors asked the students to identify personal educational goals and to commit to achieving them. Marking the conclusion of the Get Schooled National Challenge and Tour, nearly 200,000 have stepped up and committed to their education.

In the below video, Ludacris speaks to the students of the high school, telling them how he wouldn’t have a successful career without education:

Miley Cyrus Celebrates 18th Birthday, Grinds Boyfriend (Photos)

Miley Cyrus celebrated her 18th birthday a day early (she turns 18 tomorrow) at the Trousdale in West Hollywood after the American Music Awards.

She was joined by her mother Tish Cyrus — along with Demi Moore and Rumor Willis. Demi never misses out on a good party, does she?

What did she do for her birthday? Aside from that glass of booze…

She spent it kissing and grinding up against her new rumored boyfriend, Nickelodeon star Avan Jogia.

Looks like a nice, clean party — I wonder who Tish’s date was?

Tony Parker Surprises Eva Longoria With Divorce Filing

Eva Longoria filed for divorce in Los Angeles last week, but her soon-to-be-ex-husband, Tony Parker had a plan of his own. Since she filed, asking for spousal support, Tony has filed for divorce himself, in Texas, with hopes that their prenuptial agreement will stand.

And the plot thickens!


On Friday, Tony filed for divorce, angering Eva and making the problem worse for her. Eva’s people had no idea that he was filing in Texas and she was “very upset” when she found out the news.

Both Tony and Eva are asking for their prenuptial agreement to be enforced, but when Eva filed in California, she asked for the right to collect spousal support, which is said to be inconsistent with their prenup.

Tony’s lawyer thought that her filing left open the idea of challenging the prenup and he wanted to protect his client. We’re just left wondering who’s divorce filing is going to stand… What do you think?

Miley Cyrus Ditches Bret Michaels Song For The AMAs

Miley Cyrus was all set to perform Bret Michaels’ classic Poison song, “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” at the 2010 American Music Awards last night, but ditched it at the last minute.

Can’t imagine why!


For her performance last night, Miley opted to sing “Love And Forgiveness”, instead of the song that Bret wrote and made famous. TMZ reports:

Two sources connected with the production of the AMAs tell TMZ that Miley changed her mind about singing the song within the last few days. A source connected with the production says the rundown for the show — which includes the song list — changed on Thursday and that’s when Miley’s version of “Every Rose” disappeared. A second source close to the show confirmed the last minute change.

Could it be because earlier this month it was rumored that Miley’s mom, Tish, was having an affair with Bret? It was said that might have been the catalyst in breaking up their marriage.

Lady Gaga’s Bodyguards Investigated After Paparazzi Assault

Lady Gaga loves her fans, there’s no doubt about that! But when the paparazzi get too close, her bodyguards have a royal fit!

At least that’s the story that one photographer is telling.


Saturday night, while Gaga was in Denmark, a photographer got to close to the singer, but her bodyguard had other plans.

She was on her way back to her hotel when the photographer followed her in an attempt to get a few pictures. The snapper says that he was attacked by four of her bodyguards, one of which used pepper spray on him. The photographer then filed a police report, as pepper spray is illegal in Denmark.

Wow, they’re overprotective of her, aren’t they? I have to wonder what would happen if a fan wanted a photo of her? Would they attack one of her Little Monsters?

New Kids on the Block & Backstreet Boys Perform Together (Video)

The New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys took the stage at the American Music Awards to perform a medley of both groups’ hits and prepare fans for their upcoming summer tour together.

Arguably the first mega-famous boy band and one of the last combined to sing NKOTB’s ‘Step By Step’ and ‘You’ve Got It (The Right Stuff)’ and BSB’s ‘Everybody (Backstreet’s Back),’ ‘I Want It That Way’ and ‘Larger Than Life.’

During ‘Larger Than Life,’ they changed the lyrics to “All you people can’t you see, can’t you see. NKOTBSB,” the moniker of the combined bands — which includes members Joey McIntyre, A.J. McLean, Jordan Knight, Howie Dorough, Jonathan Knight, Donnie Wahlberg, Brian Littrell, Danny Wood and Nick Carter.

I’m fairly certain, this was the only reason people watched the award show.
