Andy Serkis & Ian McKellen Confirmed For ‘The Hobbit’! Posted: 10 Jan 2011 07:18 PM PST Official word has finally come regarding casting for the new Peter Jackson film The Hobbit. Andy Serkis, Ian McKellen and Elijah Wood, have all signed on the dotted line! It was speculated for some time whether or not the stars would return, but now it has been confirmed! YAY! A hugely sweet and long-winded announcement was made via Sir Ian’s website regarding his involvement with the project. “All I had to decide was what to do with the time that is given me. I'm 71 and fit: though at my age who knows what accident is ’round the next corner? For a year or more, I have been arranging my professional commitments around the possibility of The Hobbit films starting at almost anytime. We brought the Waiting for Godot tour of Australia to New Zealand early 2010, assuming I would stay on to start shooting soon after. Then there was yet another delay: but in Wellington I met with Guillermo del Toro and later read his script for Part One, written with the LOTR writing team. It was true to the style, the fun and the romance of the trilogy. When Peter Jackson, already producing, resumed the director's chair, he kept me in touch with developments. A second screenplay was sent over, on the understanding that I would not talk about what I read in it. After the ruckus over trade union expectations and unlikely rumours of filming outside New Zealand, suddenly crucial casting was announced, plus a start date in February 2011. Martin Freeman as Bilbo sounds perfect. As my agent continued to negotiate with Warner Brothers, I kept wondering was Gandalf what I most wanted to do, more than a new play for instance or indeed a new part? Sequels aren't necessarily as rewarding to act in as their originals. Could I let Gandalf go? Would anyone else care if I did? Elsewhere, does anyone care that Michael Gambon was not the first to play Dumbledore? The deciding negotiation was not about money but about dates. Gandalf is needed on set over the next 18 months but with sizeable breaks when I can work on other projects. My worry that I could not easily escape from Middle Earth was lifted. I am happy to say I start filming in Wellington on February 21 2011. ” –Ian McKellen, London, January 2011 Well that definitely confirms things doesn’t it? *giddylaugh* Here’s the official press release regarding Andy Serkis and Elijah Wood’s return: Elijah Wood and Andy Serkis are set to join the cast of Peter Jackson's highly anticipated adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic "The Hobbit." The films, which are scheduled to commence principal photography in February 2011, mark Jackson's return to Middle-earth following his Oscar-winning "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. The announcement was made jointly today by Toby Emmerich, President and Chief Operating Officer, New Line Cinema, Alan Horn, President and Chief Operating Officer, Warner Bros. and Steve Cooper, co-Chief Executive Officer of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. I was so worried about the possibility of a re-cast, and now I am most certainly at ease! Now we just need to get Ian Holm in on the action! image source

The Latest ‘HairDo By Jessica Simpson’ (Photo) Posted: 10 Jan 2011 06:58 PM PST A new photo of singer/entrepreneur/reality-star/actress/weirdo fashion icon Jessica Simpson has surfaced on twitter. Simpson’s publicist Lauren Auslander posted a photo of the lovely songstress on her plixi account. The hair-raising photo begs the question… What the hell?? My take? I think that Jess’s partner in the faux hair business, Ken Paves had an idea for a new hair piece, and that Jess was the guinea pig. Maybe this piece will be called ‘The Electric Poof-Do’ or something… ? Apparently, there are reports that this stunning hairstyle was for a magazine shoot. I like my hypothesis better though. Demi Lovato Thanks Fans For Support Posted: 10 Jan 2011 03:27 PM PST Demi Lovato has had her share of controversy in the past few months. Her ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas broke things off with her and opted to date Ashley Greene, instead. After that, she was partying it up on tour and thought she got ratted out by Alex Welch, whom she ended up allegedly punching. Demi ended up checking herself into rehab, citing “emotional and physical issues”. Now, she is thanking her fans for their support. The Disney starlet took to her official Facebook page and posted this message to her hordes of fans: I wish to thank all the friends and fans who voted for me for the People’s Choice Awards and the Hot Hits Hottest Teen Stars of 2010. I want to make sure my fans know how thankful I am for all their love, support and prayers during this difficult time. Thank you for standing beside me through it all. Get well soon, Demi! Another ‘Teen Mom’ Star Goes To Jail Posted: 10 Jan 2011 01:59 PM PST I can’t believe garbage like this passes for entertainment in America. Teen Mom 2 premieres on MTV tomorrow night at 10pm. The most recent controversy surrounding this series is the arrest of season 2 cast member Jenelle, who also appeared on 16 And Pregnant. The latest in what I can only earmark as a growing trend, is another arrest of a Teen Mom star. Jenelle and her boyfriend were arrested at their home after they allegedly broke into a vacant property. The pair were charged with marijuana possession. Wow, what a great role model for your kid there Janelle… Oh, wait… right. Your son was already removed from your custody. *rollseyes* Please don’t mistake me, yes, I realize that the so-called ‘purpose’ of these reality shows is to warn youngsters about the problems that await them should they opt to have kids while they are still kids themselves. Regardless, shows like this do ‘glamorize’ and turn these ‘women’ into pseudo celebrities. Remember Amber from season 1? She got arrested for beating her child’s father, and is being offered a half million bucks to do porn? Wow, aside from being despicable and revolting a concept, this is just one way that these girls profit from getting knocked up while still young and ill-equipped. Ugh…

Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart Break Up Posted: 10 Jan 2011 12:18 PM PST There has been a lot of buzz surrounding Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s relationship. Are they dating? Aren’t they? Did she try hooking up with her “On The Road” co-star Garrett Hedlund to make Rob jealous? Who knows?!? Now, it’s being reported that the twosome have officially called it quits. They’re not making it sound that amicable, either. According to reports, she dumped him! Snitches close to the couple say that they were experiencing some problems in their relationship and Kristen called time on it. Reportedly, Kristen pulled her hand away from Rob at the People’s Choice Awards, leaving fans to speculate that they’re no longer together. One India reports: It is said the couple spend most of their time apart and since of late rumors state that they are getting bored of each other too. But, the Twilight actress, Kristen Stewart has claimed to say that she wants a time out of their romance, so therefore she has actually ‘dumped’ the most wanted ladies man, Robert Pattinson. As per reports, Kristen Stewart told Robert Pattinson that she is finding the relationship very hard at the moment and that while she'll always see him as a friend, she just can't be his girlfriend anymore. Her new song, “Hold It Against Me” has leaked online and you can listen to it here! The song title sounds like a cheesy pickup line from a bar. “If I said I want your body now, would you hold it against me?” Cheesiness! But I like the song, despite the goofy lyrics. Check it out: What do you think of the song? The song was actually supposed to make its official online debut tomorrow, but has somehow found its way online. Justin Bieber Fandom Compared To Terrorism Posted: 10 Jan 2011 11:53 AM PST If you’re thinking that the fascination with Bieber Fever has gotten out of hand, then congratulations, you’re not alone. According to one expert, the fandom surrounding Justin Bieber is comparable to terrorism. So if you listen to Bieber, then the terrorists win? “Pop Eater” reports: One child psychiatrist, Dr. Alan Ravitz, senior director of forensic psychiatry at the Child Mind Institute, tells PopEater that this Bieber Fever going around is a hazardous issue, and one to take more seriously. “Where are the parents? Who is trying to guide these kids?” Dr. Ravitz asks. “Who is telling them to be polite and civil to each other? In a way, it’s analogous to terrorism, where the only thing important is your own personal agenda, and if anyone gets in the way of that, you’re allowed to do whatever you want to them.” Whaaa?!?? Dr. Ravitz explains, “If you’re a 10-year-old and you get a tweet from Justin, you don’t have the capacity for abstract thought. You can’t think, ‘Well, he probably has a PR person who generates these tweets for him.’ You as a 10-year-old think, ‘Oh, he’s sending this to me, he is telling me about his life.’ So on the one hand, he has this PR team creating this sense of false intimacy, and on the other hand he creates a problem for himself because he encourages intrusion into his private life. I don’t think he can have it both ways.” But, never fear parents, he’s not just blaming Justin’s PR people….Nope, he’s also laying the blame on you. He went on to say, “I think it’s the responsibility of the fan base to get realistic about their perceptions. It’s less Justin Bieber’s responsibility, and more the responsibility of the parents of those kids who reacted so uncouthly. Bieber’s management is just focused on revenue generation, which is a reasonable thing to be focused on, which is running a business.” Just tell your kids not to step on each other when the Biebz is around. Their rep issued a statement, saying, “David and Victoria Beckham are delighted to confirm they are expecting their fourth child in the summer. Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz are very excited about the arrival of their new brother or sister.” Congratulations to them for bringing another beautiful baby into the world! Victoria took to her Twitter page to thank her fans for their well wishes. She tweeted, “Thank u so much for your kind and beautiful messages!!!we are all so happy and very excited!!!!!!x vb x” Posh has previously hinted at baby plans, saying, “Everyone keeps asking me if I would like to have a little girl and I think, at some point, if I am lucky enough to have another baby, that would be great.
