Wired Exclusive: Nikki & Rich at The ROXY Posted: 06 Mar 2011 09:10 PM PST We first met Nikki & Rich in January 2010 at their One Night Only Show at The Roxy. Last night, a little over a year later, the duo took the legendary Roxy stage one more time for an explosive night of soulful and funky tunes! And Allie is Wired was there to capture it all. Nikki & Rich were recently named one of New York Post’s most anticipated artists and their performance last night was proof of why the talented duo will soon be taking over radio airwaves. They opened the set with their signature 1960′s doo-wop sound. Nikki’s incredible voice and infectious smile instantly changed the mood in the theatre- the audience couldn’t help but grin and bob their heads! Nikki & Rich really got the crowd going with their catchy hit, Cat and Mouse: In the middle of the set, Nikki took a moment to wish a friend Happy Birthday and serenade him with the 1939 classic, Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Oh wow, the girl can sing: The duo recently collaborated with rapper, Fabolous, on the song City Lights. Although Fabolous wasn’t able to make it out to The Roxy last night, Nikki & Rich still brought the house down with their rendition: See more Videos of Nikki & Rich Live at The Roxy on Allie is Wired Video. According to the duo’s website, Nikki & Rich have been finishing up their debut studio album entitled “Everything”. The album promises to be a collection of everything from hip-hop influenced tracks to huge soul ballads reminiscent of 60′s style live instrumentation. Rumor has it the album will be released in May 2011. Fingers crossed! Make sure to check out NikkiandRich.com for bios, music, news and more. "Cat and Mouse" and "Next Best Thing" are available on iTunes now! |
